Post Gynecologic Surgery in Vancouver
Recovering After Gynecologic Surgery in Vancouver
Gynecologic surgeries can include hysterectomy, laparoscopic procedures, endometriosis surgery, prolapse repair, oophorectomy, myomectomy, and more. Recovering from any of these surgeries requires time and careful guidance to return safely and confidently to all normal activities, fitness, and daily routines.
At Pinnacle, we are passionate about supporting our post-surgical clients, as we understand how impactful dedicated guidance can be for a complete recovery. Support starts early after surgery, where we focus on immediate recovery steps, restoring normal breathing patterns, safe movement strategies, supportive garments, and early scar care. Our approach then progresses to restoring full coordination and strength of the deep core and pelvic floor muscles, alongside posture and hip strength, to set the foundation for long-term health.
Surgeons are the Experts in Surgery—Pelvic Therapists are the Experts in Post-Surgical Recovery.
When should you reach out to a pelvic therapist when planning surgery?
Before Surgery: If possible, start before surgery. We can help you prepare with guidance on managing abdominal binders, getting in and out of bed safely, coughing strategies, and even core pre-hab exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor and core.
After Surgery: We can begin assisting as early as two weeks post-surgery, focusing on early recovery needs and concerns.
How will the therapist work with my surgeon?
Our team prefers to collaborate with your surgeon to ensure cohesive care and optimal recovery outcomes.
What Types of Surgeries Do Our Therapists Support?
We assist with recovery from a wide range of gynecologic surgeries, including but not limited to:
- Hysterectomy (abdominal, laparoscopic, or vaginal)
- Laparoscopic Procedures (for endometriosis, fibroid removal, and ovarian cysts)
- Endometriosis Surgery
- Pelvic Organ Prolapse Repairs (including bladder and rectal prolapse repairs)
- Myomectomy (fibroid removal)
- Oophorectomy (removal of ovaries)
Each of these surgeries impacts the body’s core and pelvic floor. Any incision into the pelvic or abdominal region affects not only muscle layers but also the body’s interconnected systems, including the diaphragm, core, and pelvic floor. Helping our clients restore coordination and function among these areas after surgery ensures a faster recovery and minimizes potential long-term issues like back pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and scar tissue complications.
